The Shard

Trip to the Shard

O

n the 12th September Jane and I went up to London to visit the Shard.

The trip was a Christmas present from our girls and it took us 9 months to get there.

We chose a lovely day, fortunately. It must be awful to pay the money and get up there only to see clouds and dull light.

I took three cameras, my DSLR with a 70-200 and a 24-105 lenses, my Fuji X10 compact camera and, of course, my iPhone.

We were up there around three hours and to be honest I could have stayed longer.

I loved the way the scenery changes as the light changes and the sun moves across the sky throwing shadows in different ways.

The view from the toilets is pretty unique!

2012 Paralympics

Paralympics

We went to the Paralympics and witnessed one of the best live events I’ve ever seen.

W

hilst we did manage to get tickets for the Olympics, I was refused time off work so couldn’t go, so our visit to the Paralympics was the only experience I had of the London 2012 Games.

What an experience it was. The roar of the crowd in the Olympic Stadium was incredible. We were fortunate enough to watch Jonny Peacock win his 100m gold among other great events.

I took the DSLR with 70-200mm lens and got some great shots, but I also took pics on the iPhone.

J

ane and I went to the theatre in London.

As usual, I took a few shots on the way. All of these except the blue one of the lad waiting opposite a train were taken on the Tube.

The shot of the lad in the backpack was take  at Letchworth Railway Station as we waited for our train to London. I processed it on the phone during the journey in to London.
